PlayStation 3/Motorstorm 2: Air Raid



The bold, eye-popping ad was shot on location at the Salton Sea, where stunt drivers/fliers were dropped from real airplanes, with sky-diving cameramen capturing the action.

"Our mission was to synchronize the sky-divers and their drops so they would appear closer together than was the case in camera," explained Executive Producer Baptiste Andrieux of Eight VFX, which previously collaborated with Obermeyer on 2007's Bank of America "Hiker". "To do so practically would have taken the stunts to an impractical level."

Of course, "Air Raid" is an ad for PS3's Motorstorm 2, and as such it needed to convey a sense of the impractical while maintaining the visual authenticity of stunts executed by some of the best sky-divers in the world. To heighten the drama (no pun intended), Eight VFX created CG envinronments, airplanes, motor vehicles, and jumpers to populate the shots on top of the live action stuntmen.

"When we took this on, we said we'd be happy if this played as something that looks completely real but feels like it could and should only happen in a videogame," said Andrieux. "Watching the spot unfold, I think we succeeded."

We were both attracted to this job because neither of us can read, and we thought this would be a good excuse to go into a library for the first time. We loved Katie and Chad's scripts, they were simple and quite dark, and reminded us how libraries can lead you down the road to ruin, but then get you right back on track. It was our idea to use real actors in all four spots, instead of CGI characters used in most library commercials.

SAXBYS GINGER BEER TV COMMERCIAL

Ginger beer is a type of carbonated soft drink or rarely, alcoholic beverage, flavored primarily with ginger, lemon and sugar. It originated in England in the mid 1700s, and it reached its peak of popularity in the early 1900s. The original recipe requires only ginger, sugar, and water, to which is added a gelatinous substance called "ginger beer plant" (see below). Fermentation over a few days turns the mixture into ginger beer. Lemon may be added. A simple version of this recipe can be made at home today in which the following is bottled in a 2 liter bottle: grated fresh ginger, sugar, a small amount of baker's yeast, and (optionally) lemon juice. It is sealed at room temperature for a day or two before refrigerating.

Instead of using the ginger beer plant, some other form of live culture may be used to produce fermented ginger beer. This is often baker's or brewer's yeast, but can also be a culture of lactic acid bacteria, kefir grains, or tibicos. Ginger beer is fizzy due to carbon dioxide. The alcohol content when produced by the traditional process can be high, up to 11%, although it is possible to ferment ginger beer in such a way as to produce little alcohol. Ginger beer may be mixed with beer (usually a British ale of some sort) to make one type of shandy, and with Gosling's Black Seal rum to make a drink, originally from Bermuda, called a Dark 'N' Stormy. The soda version of ginger beer is the main ingredient in the Moscow Mule cocktail.

The beverage produced industrially today is often not brewed (fermented). Such ginger beer is carbonated with pressurized carbon dioxide, does not contain alcohol, and is sold as a soft drink. Ginger beer is similar to ginger ale except that it has a significantly stronger ginger taste, often being described as ginger ale with a kick to it. Its other distinctive properties include its traditional cloudy appearance, its predominately citrus sour taste base and its spicy ginger bite.

Composed entirely from still images, the Nokia ‘Dance’ spot was designed to show the excitement and fun of photo sharing, via mms and Bluetooth. Each still image and human figure lines up with the following character, creating a dance composed of hundreds of individual poses.

The music track was composed using eclectic samples and sounds from around the world, to reflect the radio recording and sharing capabilities of the Nokia 5000.

Levi Strauss Scores Viral Gold With Back-Flipping Jeans Clip

The hottest video on YouTube right now showcases a handful of agile hipsters effortlessly hopping, leaping and even back-flipping into their jeans.

Amateur videos of friends performing such stunts are common enough on YouTube, but this video is the work of professionals.

"We didn't want to overtly brand it as Levi's," said Erica Archambault, head of public relations at Levi Strauss, who confirmed Friday that the company is behind the viral video. "We wanted people to discover it on their own."

The acrobatic "Guys backflip into jeans" video (embedded, right) was created to promote Levi's line of zipperless, button-fly jeans.

First uploaded Monday, the video has clocked a staggering 1.4 million views this week, garnering it YouTube's coveted "most viewed" spot. It's the kind of viral hit that ad agencies and their clients have been cooking up ever since Burger King scratched out an internet hit with its subservient chicken website in 2004.

Levi Strauss worked with San Francisco-based advertising company Cutwater to produce the video, which was shot in March.

The amusing, eye-popping stunts seen in the two-minute short were done by a troupe of performers who relied on their break-dancing skills to catapult themselves into the jeans.

Archambault insists no special trickery was used during shooting. Each performer wore silk boxers and used heavily starched jeans to help complete the trick.

The video snagged a red flag by Gawker writer Nick Douglas, who pointed out Thursday that the video bore a striking resemblance to a viral video of a guy catching sunglasses on his face. That video, similarly posted anonymously on YouTube, was eventually revealed to be a marketing clip by creative teams Cutwater and Feed Company for <span style="font-weight:bold;">sunglasses company Ray-Ban.

Absolut: Dissection

The spot is based upon an Absolut print campaign which features a cocktail glass exploding out to reveal the liquid contained within it. “Dissection” expands on that concept by disassembling a full Absolut Vodka bottle, lingering on the vodka within, and then reassembling it by the end of the spot. About 80% of the liquid featured in the spot is real, photographed slow-motion vodka, but there are a couple of shots that feature completely CG vodka.
